5 Things I Will Do at Fresyes Fest [2023]

We can debate what our biggest festivals are some other time. But it might be Fresyes Fest. Biggest or not, I PLAN on going (I don’t get out much, so I am cautious with my optimism of leaving the house for something).

Fresyes Fes is this Saturday. It is centered around the Brewery District. Streets will be blocked. Beer will be drank. Music will be played. Tacos will be eaten.

Here are five things I plan to do, maybe you can to:

Pretend Not to See People I Can’t Remember the Names Of

There will be people that you’ll see and think “Wait, where do I know that guy from?” You won’t remember, so you’ll have to avoid them the rest of the time. Truth is, they are probably thinking the same thing so you both spend the rest of your time avoiding each other out of embarrassment.

Drink Local Beer

I don’t see this being difficult. Tioga will have many beer stations all over the damn place. Plenty of spots to purchase. A special beer will be released. Drink tickets on discount until Saturday. There will be a full bar inside the Chuk starting at 3:00 for you non-beer folks.

BONUS THING: I have yet to check out the new Sun Stereo Warehouse thing. I hope it is open and I can have a beer there.

Listen To Bands Play

I plan to do some solid head-nodding and arm-folding as I stand in front of the bands and take them in. Bands I hope to see (but realistically know I won’t see all of):

• 1:30 Downwinders
• 3:00 Sun Umbra
• 7:30 Fatty Cakes
• 7:45 Macondo

Eat Pizza and Taco

I am looking for the shortest lines here. But I do hope there will be a Brickology or something like that – this just in: Brickology will be there. And any tacos will do, because they can’t miss.

Arrive Early

The evening time is for the scene people. The afternoon is for the Fresnans that complain about their back hurting and how they need to get more sleep. I will be there in the afternoon.

Now, if I have too much of the aforementioned beer, I just might stick around for the scene-crowd (highly doubtful).

ONE MORE THING: The map below is nice but forgets the fact that Fresnans are really into parking their cars. We fucking love to park vehicles. But it’s sparse on the map so, I will let you know, I usually park in the Stadium lot that is West of The Chuk at the end of Inyo.

But I assume the two City parking garages (Tulare and the Spiral Garage on Inyo) will be open. Note: They will likely be charging for parking as this qualifies as an event (normally parking on the weekend is free).

I have tried street parking for this event before and it’s difficult. Your best bet is getting a nice person to drop you off and pick you up, or just pay to park.
