SAVE THE DATE!: F.U.S.E. Fest 2012 Is…

6a00e54ee89e6c88330167659316a9970b-400wi SAVE THE DATE!: F.U.S.E. Fest 2012 Is...

The dates have been decided, local music festival the Fresno Urban Sound Experience is happening September 6th, 7th and 8th this year!

Like last year, there will be two nights (and some day time stuff too) of music. There is also a new third night, a special preview night, during September ArtHop (that's Thursday night the 6th).

There will be a nice mix of new and returning venues this year. Frank's Place at Warnors will return as will Fulton 55 and Tokyo Garden. And there is a nod to year-one as the old Milano's (now the Fresno Brewing Company) returns, plus a couple new spots you'll find out more about later.

Gettin' pumped already. What bands do you want to see play this year?

THE RANCH: Happy to see Religious Appeal come back with another Mixtape Party. This one features very excellent local bands Elmo Marconi, Light Thieves, Fast Car and Achievement House. If you're wondering how a mixtape party works, Religious Appeal breaks it down:

Create a mixed CD/tape of whatever song you'd like (takes are HIGHLY encouraged) and hand over your tape at the door. You'll receive a wristband to redeem for a different mixtape at the end of the night.

Get creative with the mixes! Write down your contact info to let people know who you are. Place your mix in an envelope, old DVD case, cigar box or whatever you'd like. Some favorite submissions from the past:

– a tape wrapped in foil, placed in a bag of fake blood
– a tape with nothing else but Mark Morrison's Return Of The Mack
– A CD/tape combo
– A person's old mix from when they were 14.

This Video Will Totally Give You A Beard Boner

Fresno's video scene has changed a bit over the years. Back in the day good local video was so thin we actually felt compelled to post real estate vids' of Fresno homes and our own terrible video of shows that were actually shot sideways … with no audio.

There wasn't a ton a quality stuff to post so we'd just put up whatever.

Luckily now there are stellar sites like Gotta Love Fresno, Swede Fest and the kinda new Internet show Kim & Greg. Their latest effort, "Kim's Hairy Situation", is quite entertaining. Our beard got hella turned on while watching this:

New Music errrrr New VIDEO Tuesday: Sounds & Sciences “Fancy Me Dead”

6a00e54ee89e6c88330168e9e0eebe970c-400wi New Music errrrr New VIDEO Tuesday: Sounds & Sciences "Fancy Me Dead"

We can't stop liking these Sounds & Sciences guys. We know it's not a widely recognized genre of music with the above 20 crowd but we think Sounds is as legit locally as Strange Vine, 40 Watt Hype, Rademacher, Fierce Creatures and so on… well, at least they will be someday.

Anyway, they've got a new video out, directed by Jordan Pulmano. Have a watch:
